The Room In Front Of You Is Currently A Studio Space For The Department Of Dance. When This Building First Opened In 1914, However, It Was The “Mammal Room” For The Archeological And Historical Museum.

Move your finger along the screen to rotate and pinch with your thumb and forefinger to zoom in.   we have created a digital rendering of the space so that you may experience the magnificent creatures and marvel in the rich history of the buildiing itself.  the 3d space was recreated based on photographs of the original mammal room. searching Through the oSU archives we were able to find old building schematics and figured out the exact location of the former mammal room.

Featuring an extensive collection of taxidermy representing mammal species found in Ohio and the Midwest, the light-filled room was filled with large glass display cases in which were posed preserved a n expansive collection of specimens. Persons who visited the room were able to examine closely the size, color and coats of wild species and to learn about the diversity of the animal population of our region.
